Indigenous to the Marianas and raised in the northern village of Yigo, Guam, Lola Quan Bautista is influenced by her Chamorro upbringing. Currently working on her fourth docu-series Crossing Spaces: Guam to California.

After directing her first film, Breadfruit and Open Spaces, Lola has become increasing interested in promoting social justice through film, as well as developing classroom curricula.

Lola is an associate professor at the Center for Pacific Island Studies at the University of Hawai'‘i at Mānoa. For over 20 years, she has been doing research on Micronesian migration, settlement in urban spaces, and ongoing connections between diaspora communities and their home island nations.
