It speaks to both its spiritual foundations and its unifying force that binds families and communities, capturing the richness and depth of this tradition while sustaining its legacy within Chamorro culture.
Promesa, or promise, is the custom of keeping a promise to observe a certain nobena (a nine-day devotion). It is often within the familia, or family system, that a wide variety of Catholic rituals are carried out.
